StepGuard™ Aisle and Pathway Installation

The StepGuard aisle and pathway system features a durable base that screws securely into place, typically in six-foot sections. Pre-installed Light Tape inside a continuous rubber sleeve forms a custom luminaire that can extend up to 75 feet in length. To install, connect Light Tape at one end, work it into the base channel with your thumbs, and seal the far end once it is flat. Use our cap system for navigating corners, ensuring a safe and clean installation.

On-site Installation and Maintenance Tips

StepGuard™ products are designed for customization and easy maintenance. Whether shortening profiles, navigating corners, or replacing caps, StepGuard™ products ensure a seamless installation for every situation.

Shortening StepGuard™ Stair Nosings

If your StepGuard stair nosing is too long, it can be easily shortened on-site. Remove the end caps, Light Tape, or HB LEDs. Use a miter saw to cut the aluminum profile and scissors to trim the Light Tape or LEDs at the designated cut points.

Joining Two StepGuard™ Profiles to Form a Corner

StepGuard stair nosings are made from durable aluminum and can be customized for corners. Simply cut two segments to form an angle, ensuring the Light Tape feeds from opposite ends and meets cleanly at the corner.

How to Change StepGuard Caps

Our caps are mechanically fastened using an Allen bolt system—no glue required. This allows for easy removal and reinstallation to access the profile interior when needed.

Electrical Wiring Considerations and Installation

StepGuard™ simplifies electrical wiring with user-friendly solutions for various configurations. Learn how to handle dual lighting systems, replace Light Tape inserts, and manage power supply connections for seamless performance.

How to Install Duo HB

The HB Duo system combines two lighting technologies in one solution. The top channel features no-glare Light Tape, while the bottom uses LEDs for floor or step illumination. Please note that each system requires its own power supply.

How to Replace Light Tape® Luminaire

Replacing a damaged Light Tape insert is simple. Remove the caps, carefully slide out the old insert, and slide in the new one. Avoid pulling directly on the Light Tape—handle the rubber insert instead. Trim the end with scissors or a sharp knife and seal appropriately.

How to Cut and Install Light Tape®

Light Tape is fully illuminated across its surface and can be cut anywhere—no cut zones required. There are millions of phosphor particles being illuminated. Use scissors or a razor blade for a clean cut and seal the end with clear insulating tape.

Electrical Wiring Considerations

StepGuard solutions are manufactured in the United States and designed around Light Tape, eliminating concerns about polarity or voltage drops and allowing one power supply to illuminate an entire venue. For HB LED systems, be mindful of voltage drops and power supply requirements during layout planning.
